Additional Procedure Coding Changes

Please take note of the following changes in coding.  For those who submit actual coding to us, you will need to please make these changes so we can report the appropriate coding without needing to follow up with you.  If you are sending us descriptions of your procedure and diagnosis coding, please be sure you are very specific in your descriptions.

 

Procedure Code Changes Effective 1/1/2017

99143 – Moderate Sedation, younger than 5 years (first 30 minutes) – No longer valid in 2017

New Code 99151 – Moderate Sedation (first 15 minutes)

99144 – Moderate Sedation, age 5 years or older (first 30 minutes) – No longer valid in 2017

New Code 99152 – Moderate Sedation (first 15 minutes)

99145 – Moderate Sedation (each additional 15 minutes) – No longer valid in 2017

New Code 99153 – Moderate Sedation (each additional 15 minutes)

99148 – Moderate Sedation, younger than 5 years (first 30 minutes) – No longer valid in 2017

New Code 99155 – Moderate Sedation (first 15 minutes)

99149 – Moderate Sedation, age 5 years or older (first 30 minutes) – No longer valid in 2017

New Code 99156 – Moderate Sedation (first 15 minutes)

99150 – Moderate Sedation (each additional 15 minutes) – No longer valid in 2017

New Code 99157 – Moderate Sedation (each additional 15 minutes)
